Tent and Breakfast "Glamping"

Description:
Do you like camping but not sleeping on the ground and getting dirty? Swap your sleeping bag for a feather bed at one of these luxurious campgrounds. Glamping, or glamorous camping, is a new trend in camping that combines upscale amenities with a wilderness surrounding.

Fernwood Resort in Big Sur: Fernwood is an all-purpose facility featuring a 12-unit motel, forest and meadow view cabins and Adventure Tents, which are luxury tent cabins with a queen bed and a wood burning stove. Bed linens and bath towels provided as well. Fernwood Campground conveniently borders Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park and offers a great winter camping experience. Centrally located in the Big Sur valley, there is direct access to hiking trails in Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, swimming in the Big Sur River, horseshoes, volleyball court, and more. Fernwood campground is home to a rare Albino Redwood tree.

Yosemite Pines RV Resort in Groveland: Though not quite as rough as the pioneers had it, these Conestoga wagons are air-conditioned and heated. They sleep up to 6 and are furnished with a king-size bed and 2 twin-size bunk beds. They include an under-counter refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, bed linens and are convenient to the restroom and showers. (Please bring own towels). Each wagon includes a picnic table and barbecue/fire ring.

Costanoa Lodge in Pescadero: Costanoa Coastal Lodge and Camp, an hour south of San Francisco on Highway 1, has several types of accommodations on its 30 acres adjacent to state parks, including 78 wood-and-canvas "tent bungalows." Shared "comfort stations" have fireplaces, saunas and heated floors. Other amenities include a spa and hot tub. Open year round, Costanoa is an eco adventure resort where guests can simply retreat from the chaos of everyday life and discover the pace of nature. No two bungalows are exactly alike as they are placed throughout the property with a variety of views.

El Capitan Canyon north of Santa Barbara: El Capitan Canyon resort is a mere 20 miles north of Santa Barbara. Located in a seaside pocket on 300-plus acres on the picturesque Pacific Coast, the nature lodging experience at El Capitan Canyon was created for those who have the desire to totally unwind, relax and commune with nature. Enjoy services and amenities typically found in a traditional resort, yet it's minimalism without deprivation…comfort without over-indulgence. The glories of nature without the overbearing manufactured hand of man.

Sequoia High Sierra Camp: The Sequoia High Sierra Camp is a secluded camping resort that combines the best aspects of a wilderness adventure with the furnishings and guest amenities of a deluxe hotel. Located in California's Giant Sequoia National Monument, this camp offers a rare opportunity to explore the spectacular background of California's Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Parks, while enjoying the deluxe furnishings, guest amenities and friendly hospitality that are hallmarks of this secluded mountain retreat. The camp is open seasonally from mid June to early October, weather permitting.
